Aura AR ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the Aura AR mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

Location data — Your GPS coordinates are used in real time to find monuments near you and position AR overlays. Location data is not stored on our servers.
Camera — The camera feed is processed locally on your device and through our AI scan feature. Images captured during a scan are sent to Google's Gemini API for identification and are not stored by us.
Account information — If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. This is stored in your user profile to power features like scan history and credits.
Scan history — Landmarks you identify are saved to your account so you can access your history across devices.
Purchase information — If you purchase scan credits, the transaction is processed by Stripe or your app store. We do not store your payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

To identify nearby monuments and display AR information
To power the AI scan feature via Google Gemini
To maintain your scan history and credit balance
To authenticate you securely via Google Sign-In
To improve app performance and fix issues

3. Third-Party Services

Aura AR uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Firebase (Google) — Authentication and database. Privacy policy
Google Gemini API — AI image analysis for monument identification. Terms
Wikidata / Wikipedia — Public monument data and descriptions. No personal data is shared.
Stripe — Payment processing (web version). Privacy policy

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore, protected by Firebase Security Rules that ensure only you can access your own data. We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties beyond the services listed above.

5. Camera and Location Permissions

Aura AR requires camera and location permissions to function. These permissions are used solely for the AR and monument discovery features described in this policy. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings, though doing so will prevent the app from working correctly.

6. Children's Privacy

Aura AR is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Opt out of non-essential data collection
